Blair and Jodi have been running food pantries since the ’90s. Today, they run Seeds of Hope, a food pantry in Dilworth, Minnesota, supplied by the Great Plains Food Bank. They are honored to serve between 50 and 80 families each week.
The couple began as chaplains in a prison in Arizona, which helped solidify what they both know to be true: that every person on Earth deserves kindness, dignity, and enough food to eat. And that is exactly what they aim to provide at Seeds of Hope.
Everyone who comes to the food pantry is greeted with a smile, a snack, and lots of love. “This is a joyful experience,” Blair says of serving his neighbors. And he knows that it is about more than just food. “It’s letting them know that it’s OK to have some issues. It’s OK to have a time in your life when you may be struggling, because most people in their life go through that at one time or another.”
“We really believe in people, and we love people. We just love working with all kinds of people,” they both agree. Their core values reflect those feelings: “Everybody deserves love and respect.”
