Virtual Food Drive

With 1 in 5 people facing food insecurity, including 1 in 4 children, Virtual Food Drives are an impactful way to help support neighbors in need. Individuals, organizations, schools or businesses can set up a fundraiser to support Great Plains Food Bank’s mission. These donations help cover the cost of groceries that the Great Plains Food Bank then distributes to partner pantries and programs that provides for neighbors seeking food assistance.

Rather than paying retail prices, Great Plains Food Bank works with major manufacturers, retailers, and farmers to order bulk items, secure healthy foods, and combat food waste. This allows us to stretch donations to have a greater impact and deliver more food to those who need it.

Getting started with your Virtual Food Drive is as easy as 1-2-3!

    1. Create your fundraiser page: Click Start a Virtual Food Drive, enter your email, and set up the basics.
    2. Customize your Drive: Choose a photo or add your own photo, update your fundraiser title, set your goal, and create your page.
    3. Spread the word: Once submitted, your page will be approved by a Great Plains Food Bank teammate. Once approved, share your fundraiser with friends, family, and coworkers to make the biggest impact!

What is a Virtual Food Drive?

A Virtual Food Drive is an online fundraiser where instead of collecting cans and boxes of food, you raise funds that allow the Great Plains Food Bank to purchase and distribute the most-needed items. Every $1 raised provides 2 meals for neighbors facing hunger.

While traditional food drives are impactful, Virtual Food Drives stretch your support even further. With our bulk purchasing power and partnerships, we can provide more food, more efficiently including fresh produce, protein, and culturally relevant foods that are harder to donate through a physical drive.

It only takes a few minutes! Click Start a Virtual Food Drive, create your fundraiser page (title, image, fundraising goal, etc.), and submit it for approval. Once it’s live, you’ll receive a link to share with your network.

Yes! You can add your own photo, update your fundraiser title, and set your goal. This helps inspire others to give.

Once your page is live, you’ll get a shareable link. Post it on social media, send it in emails, add it to newsletters, or even print flyers with a QR code. Our Social Media Toolkit includes graphics and sample posts to make it easy.

Absolutely! Virtual Food Drives are perfect for teams, businesses, schools, churches, or community groups. You can fundraise collectively or create individual pages to see who raises the most.

That’s up to you! Most drives run 2–4 weeks, but you can set the timeline that works best for your group or event.

  • How Do We Secure Information Transmissions? All information transmitted through our website, giving pages, and forms are sent via secure, encrypted server. Other emails you send to us may not be secure; for that reason, we ask that you do not send confidential information such as Social Security, credit card, or account numbers to us through an unsecured email.

DONATION REFUND POLICY

We are grateful for your donation and support of our organization. If you have made an error in making your donation or change your mind about contributing to our organization please contact us. Refunds are returned using the original method of payment. If you made your donation by credit card, your refund will be credited to that same credit card.

AUTOMATED RECURRING DONATION CANCELLATION

Ongoing support is important to enabling projects to continue their work, so we encourage donors to continue to contribute to projects over time. But if you must cancel your recurring donation, please notify us.
