Josy just had a baby! As exciting as that is, it also means that she has had to take unpaid time off from her full-time job. Not only that, but along with her 2-month-old, Josy has a 6-year-old and a 4-year-old she and her partner need to provide for. “It’s been a little tight. We’ve just kind of been trying to use all our resources to keep us going,” she says.
Josy’s partner, who works full time, even cashed in his PTO just to cover the bills while the family was down to one income, but that is long gone now. So
the family uses one of the best resources available to them: their local food pantry supplied by the Great Plains Food Bank.
“You got to do what you got to do. My kids have food in their stomachs. It’s that simple,” Josy says. And she wants friends like you to know how important your giving is.
“I would’ve had to reach out to friends or family. My sister has her own kid, her own house, her own mortgage, so she doesn’t have much. My mom, she’s on disability fixed income,” she tells us. Thankfully, she does not have to make that choice — because of generous friends like you!
We meet families like Josy’s every day! Your compassion and generosity are critical to helping ensure they have access to nutritious food during their times of need. Thank you!
