Starion Bank has made a $250,000 donation supporting the Great Plains Food Bank’s mission of ending hunger throughout North Dakota. The sizeable contribution is dedicated to the hunger-relief organization’s Harvesting Hope Campaign, which is focused on building a new statewide distribution center to expand food access across the state.
For generations, Starion has served individuals, families, farmers, and businesses across North Dakota and beyond. Through those relationships, the bank sees firsthand how quickly circumstances can change when unexpected challenges arise.
“This donation reflects who we are at Starion Bank, a community‑focused organization that believes in showing up when our neighbors need us,” said Craig Larson, CEO of Starion Bank. “Food insecurity affects families in every corner of our state. By partnering with the Great Plains Food Bank, we know these dollars will have an immediate and meaningful impact.”
The Great Plains Food Bank plays a vital role in moments of uncertainty for many local communities, providing food assistance for over 167,000 individuals and families annually in over 100 communities across the region. Starion’s support is driven by the belief that strong communities are built when people lift each other up and invest in lasting solutions.
“Starion is an exemplary organization that truly serves the communities where it exists. This gift is a transformational example of how local leadership can create a statewide impact,” shared Grace Renner, Donor Relations Officer at the Great Plains Food Bank. “This is what it looks like when a community bank becomes a community champion, something Starion has always leaned into and defined themselves by.”
The new statewide distribution center represents a transformational step forward for the Great Plains Food Bank. The larger facility will expand capacity to store and distribute food, enhance the volunteer space, and create room for future growth in programs and services.
