Hornbacher’s customers once again showed the power of community by raising $67,197 during the 32nd annual Check Out Hunger campaign to support Great Plains Food Bank’s mission of ending hunger together. This summer campaign was held across all Hornbacher’s stores across Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo, the campaign invited customers to make donations at checkout to help provide nutritious food for children, families, and older adults experiencing hunger across North Dakota and Clay County, Minnesota
With this year’s campaign, Check Out Hunger has raised over $1,072,313 for Great Plains Food Bank since the partnership began, demonstrating the lasting impact of thousands of generous customers and Hornbacher’s associates who have come together over the past 32 years to help end hunger in our communities.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our customers and associates for making this campaign another success,” said Samantha Simmons, Director of Operations for Hornbacher’s. “Year after year, our communities continue to show they care deeply about their neighbors. We’re proud to partner with Great Plains Food Bank to help make a meaningful difference for families across our region.”
To celebrate the campaign’s impact, members of the Hornbacher’s team volunteered at Great Plains Food Bank’s Fargo warehouse where together, they packed 675 protein-packed Back-to-School Bags that will be distributed to students in the Grand Forks area, helping children return to the classroom with nutritious food to support their success.
“The support of Hornbacher’s extends far beyond the check out lane,” said Ann Prifrel, Chief Executive Officer of Great Plains Food Bank. “Hornbacher’s, their customers, and their associates have demonstrated what it means to care for their neighbors. This year’s gift will help provide meals and hope for thousands of neighbors while ensuring children have access to nutritious food as they head back to school. We are deeply grateful for Hornbacher’s continued commitment to ending hunger together.”
