As food insecurity continues to impact families across the region, the Great Plains Food Bank and Corwin Automotive Group are teaming up once again to launch the annual Stock the Shelves campaign, a six-week community effort to help ensure neighbors have access to nutritious food this spring.
Running now through May 3, the campaign invites the public to make a financial gift online or donate food at one of the 5 participating Corwin dealership locations in the Fargo Moorhead area. To amplify community generosity, Corwin Automotive Group will match all financial donations up to $65,000—doubling the impact of every gift.
“At Corwin, our commitment to the Great Plains Food Bank is a deeply personal one, rooted in our desire to give back to the communities that have supported us for so many years. Seeing the direct impact this incredible organization has on our neighbors who need it most makes the decision to partner for the Stock the Shelves campaign an easy and obvious one, year after year,” shared Nick Olson, Digital Marketing Manager at Corwin Automotive Group. “We are honored to once again stand alongside Great Plains Food Bank to help make a tangible difference in the lives of those in need.”
Funds raised through Stock the Shelves will support the Great Plains Food Bank’s direct service programs and network of 205 partner food pantries, shelter, and meal sites across North Dakota and Clay County, Minnesota, helping provide food to children, families, and seniors facing hunger. Every dollar donated helps provide more than $9 worth of groceries, thanks to the Great Plains Food Bank’s food sourcing and distribution model and the Corwin match.
For neighbors like Makela, a working mother of two, support from local food pantries makes a meaningful difference. Even with a steady job and a supportive husband, rising grocery costs remain a challenge. “Bills are astronomical,” she shared, “[Using the food pantry] cuts about $100 off my grocery bill each week.” She shared gratitude for donors by adding, “I’d like to give them a huge thank you.”
