For this longtime Valley City resident, giving back isn’t just an act of kindness — it’s a way of life. She has lived in the Valley City area for 37 years and regularly picks up food for 10 of her neighbors. “It’s fun,” she said with a smile, describing the joy she finds in helping those around her.
“It means everything to do this,” she shared. “I was brought up that you help your neighbor. It’s always been what we do. We can’t say no!”
Her story is a reminder that acts of service, big or small, ripple through the community in meaningful ways. By taking the time to collect and share food, she ensures that neighbors who may be struggling know they are not alone and that someone is looking out for them.
At Great Plains Food Bank, we’re grateful for community members like her — neighbors who turn compassion into action. Together, we strengthen the bonds of our community, proving that caring for each other is at the heart of hope.
