When life throws you unexpected challenges, a helping hand can make all the difference. For Brandi, her local food pantry, supplied by the Great Plains Food Bank, became that helping hand during a tough transition in her life.
Brandi has two daughters — a 4-year-old and an 18-month-old. And when she was pregnant with the youngest, she faced terrifying health challenges. “My body fought her like a bacterial infection. I was on bed rest … and then afterwards, I had a lot of complications and ended up in and out of the hospital. I couldn’t work for over a year because I had lost too much blood.”
While it was difficult to be out of work with two young children, Brandi was able to find help at her local food pantry.
“I’d never had to use the pantry before,” Brandi shares. “But this is my second time here, which helps a lot.” She is deeply grateful for supporters like you, whose gifts help the Great Plains Food Bank supply the food pantry with the nutritious food her family needs. “It helps more than you realize,” she says.
Today, Brandi is back at work and loves her job! While she works to get back on her feet, she is grateful she can access food from the food pantry. Her 4-year-old daughter was especially happy to get two of her favorite foods: “Hot dogs! Oranges!”
Your gifts make a tangible impact for families like Brandi’s, offering hope, nutritious food, and stability when it is needed most. Thank you for everything you do.
