For Philip and Kim, finding their next meal is a daily challenge they call “chasing food.” Even in the face of hardship, their journey is one of strength, friendship, and the power of community.
Philip, a 14-year military veteran, and Kim, an older adult without a home, both live with complex health challenges — diabetes, cancer, and a rare genetic disorder — that demand costly medications. Instead of focusing on their health, much of their energy is spent searching for food, never certain where their next meal will come from.
To fill in the gaps, the friends visit The Salvation Army Food Pantry in
Williston, N.D., supplied by the Great Plains Food Bank. Each visit is a reminder of the generosity of friends like you whose gifts provide nutritious food for them.
Thanks to gifts like yours, Philip and Kim know they have a place to turn. Though their days are filled with uncertainty — choosing between food or rent, food or medication, food or transportation — your support ensures they can access nutritious meals.
Their story reflects the difficult reality faced by many older adults in our communities. But it also reflects the power of your giving! Your gifts keep older neighbors like Philip and Kim nourished in both body and soul.
