Area high school, middle school and elementary students came together to host the 19th annual Fill the Dome collecting 100,369 pounds of food and raising around $45,000 in monetary donations.
Since 2007, Fill the Dome has united more than 50 area schools in a powerful effort to collect food and funds to support neighbors facing hunger across the Fargo-Moorhead area and beyond. What began as a student-led challenge to fill the 80,000-square-foot Fargodome floor with food has grown into a longstanding community tradition.
The 2025 event, themed “Be a SOUPer Hero” featured month-long activities of raising food and funds culminating in a two day event at the Fargodome led by the Metro Area Student Ambassadors (MASA).
This year, with individuals and families experiencing heightened need, students took their impact one step further. Food collected through Fill the Dome was distributed directly to the community through a drive-through food distribution, where more than 1,420 boxes of food were given out to nearly 475 families. Each family received three boxes of groceries, along with diapers and hygiene products as needed. Additional food went to the Great Plains Food Bank to be distributed to their partner food pantries and local school pantries.
“The heart and leadership these students show every year is truly remarkable,” said Kate Molbert, Interim CEO of the Great Plains Food Bank. “They are setting an example of what it means to care for our community, to show up for neighbors, and to be part of something bigger than themselves. Their efforts will make a real and immediate difference for families.”
To date, Fill the Dome has helped provide more than 2.8 million pounds of food and raised over $934,000, all supporting local food pantries, meal programs, and the Great Plains Food Bank’s mission to end hunger together.
Fill the Dome is held in partnership with Dakota Medical Foundation, the Fargodome, Great Plains Food Bank and Hornbacher’s. Additional sponsors that made this event possible include Silver Sponsors First Western, TCI Insurance, and Ziggi’s, as well as Bronze Sponsors Bell Bank, Stephanie Guy Gruchalla DDS PC, H.A. Thompson & Sons, DSG, and Surety Wealth Group.
