FARGO, ND – Hornbacher’s continues to make a tremendous impact in the fight to end hunger with the conclusion of the 30th annual Check Out Hunger campaign. This year, the campaign raised a remarkable $62,540, pushing the total contributions since its inception in 1994 to an impressive $958,147. These funds will be donated to The Great Plains Food Bank, continuing a long-standing partnership in ending hunger together, and will immediately help feed children, seniors, and families facing food insecurity across North Dakota and Clay County, MN.
The Check Out Hunger campaign has become a cornerstone of Hornbacher’s community outreach during the month of July at all of Hornbacher’s eight locations across Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo. Customers were invited to make donations of $1, $3, or $5 at the checkout lanes. Showing extraordinary generosity throughout the campaign, customers have demonstrated their dedication to helping neighbors in their community.
“We all have a stake in our community,” shares Samantha Simmons, Director of Operations for Hornbacher’s, as she expresses her enthusiasm for the campaign’s success. “Our customers care about their neighbors, and they are proving once again that the people of the Fargo-Moorhead-West Fargo area will take care of each other and reach out to support one another. Hornbacher’s is proud to partner with the Great Plains Food Bank and help support the great work they do for our community every day.”
“The commitment from Hornbacher’s and their loyal customers in the fight to end hunger gets stronger every year,” states Melissa Sobolik, Great Plains Food Bank’s Chief Executive Officer. “This gift from Checkout Hunger comes at a crucial time for us and will go a long way to feeding our neighbors in need. We cannot thank Hornbacher’s enough for all that they do.”
